We Believe … Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord, the center of everything. He is truly God and fully man. In His incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection, and second coming, He is our hope.
God is concerned about every detail of our lives and is revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Three Persons in One.
The Bible is the primary textbook about Christ and can be trusted to introduce us to Christ, teach us what He taught, and how we are to live, serve and become His faithful disciples.
We believe in the priesthood of all believers as a spiritual privilege, a moral obligation, and personal vocation. As Christ suffers for others, so we suffer for others. As Christ offers forgiveness, so we offer forgiveness to others. As Christ is our access point to God, so we become others' access point to Christ.
As believers, we celebrate the privilege of communicating directly with God through prayer. We need no mediator between us and God. We are our own priests standing fully accountable before the Lord, not to any institutional hierarchy.
Baptism and the Lord's Supper are symbols of Christian experience, rather than a means of salvation.
Communion celebrates in symbol the death of Jesus on our behalf. All who seek or claim Christ as Savior and Lord are welcome to join us in celebrating communion.
Believer's baptism, by whatever mode the individual prefers, celebrates in symbol the new life we experience in Christ. While we only baptize believers mature enough to understand their accountability before God, we also joyfully present newborns to our congregation with a solemn pledge of our spiritual support for the parents and child. We embrace the full equality of men and women in status, giftedness, and opportunities in ministry. Our goal is to celebrate and draw strength from our uniqueness as individuals.
We believe God wants us to participate whole-heartedly in the life of this local faith community with whom we can grow spiritually and serve others. |
